TMC urges President to remove Bengal Governor


A memorandum has been sent to Ramnath Kovind, says party MPThe Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday said it had approached the President seeking the removal of West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. TMC Rajya Sabha member Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said that a memorandum had been sent to President Ramnath Kovind, asking him to remove Mr. Dhankhar from the post. Quoting Article 156 (1) of the Constitution which states, “The Governor shall hold office during the pleasure of the President”, he urged the President to “kindly withdraw” his pleasure. The Governor had crossed the line (Lakshman Rekha) of Constitution, Mr. Roy said. On Wednesday, Mr. Dhankhar alleged politicisation of education and targeted Education Minister Partha Chatterjee.
