TJ Simers, former San Diego Union reporter turned LA Times, OC Register columnist, dies at 73

He wrote for the San Diego Union from 1985-90, covering San Diego State and the Chargers, before landing at the Times. Dwyre eventually elevated Simers into a columnist role and spent the next couple decades jokingly taking the blame for creating the monster. After all, some people did love T.J. Simers.
