The 307 MW power plant without clearance from the Department of Environment is not only harmful to the environment but also life-threatening, said a press release issued by TIB on Thursday. TIB also called to end the unlawful activities including forced land acquisition for the project, torturing land owners, and clearing unpaid dues to workers. In a statement on Thursday, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said: "In the case of illegal acquisition of land for the coal based thermal power plant, a case has been filed with the court seeking the permanent suspension of both companies, and proper compensation for the affected parties.”
