The Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) on Wednesday urged the government to invest its best diplomatic efforts into mounting pressure on Myanmar so that the Rohingya crisis is not prolonged and the return of Rohingyas is ensured within the shortest possible time. The recommendation was made during the presentation of a TIB assessment report titled “Problems Related to Refuge Provided in Bangladesh to Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (Rohingya)”. It also highlighted challenges in the provision of food aid, safe drinking water and sanitation; and to security, the environment, and the local population. TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said there should be transparency in managing the Rohingya crisis. Iftekharuzzaman said: “We need neighboring countries such as India and China, who have diplomatic, economic and defense relationships with Myanmar, to create diplomatic pressure on Myanmar to a faster repatriation process of the Rohingyas.”
