According to a left-leaning thinktank, the next recession shall put around £50bn into green projects. The New Economics Foundation thinktank emphasizes the need of a green plan to beat a future fall. In the event of a recession, the government shall decarbonize the economy and spend at least 2% of Gross Domestic Product or around £30bn. Regardless of whether Britain is under a recession or not, the foundation said that raising investment in green infrastructure was of utmost importance. The thinktank suggest that putting up a plan for a green spending would help the government to avoid mistakes that were made during the last recession.
