T.O.'s summer heat replaced by rain and sleet

Punishing rainstorms pounding the Big Smoke and southern Ontario over the past two-and-a-half months have turned summer into a waterlogged nightmare. The mercury maven said he’s been taking heat from irate farmers and testy tourists alike. Phillips pointed out that last summer was so exceptionally nice that we got spoiled. “Sometimes it can bring heat waves and smog and it acts as a heat pump pushing warm southern air north creating what I call a ‘hummer of a summer’ because people are using air conditioning,” Phillips said. Looking at models for the rest of the summer, Phillips said one-third came back warmer, one-third colder and lastly, one-third closer to normal.
