Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust delivers another strong result for IwiTOM LEE/STUFF The Tūwharetoa region extends from Te Awa o te Atua (Tarawera River) at Matata across the central plateau of the North Island to the lands around Mt Tongariro and Lake Taupo.​​Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust has helped Ngāti Tūwharetoa to post a $1.7 million profit for the 2016/17 year. Tairaroa said there had also been great progress made in increasing the trust's grants for Ngāti Tūwharetoa. Other highlights for the 2016/17 year include the purchase of a commercial property at 11 Tūwharetoa Street in Taupō and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Tūwharetoa Maōri Trust Board and Ngāti Tūwharetoa Fisheries Charitable Trust.
