Tammam Tamim has moved to Palmerston North with his extended family, having escaped from war in Syria. Tamim, 41, his wife Abir Ramadan, three children and extended family arrived in Palmerston North in September, 2016. When they arrived in Palmerston North, 95 per cent of people were welcoming, but there was still an undercurrent of racism, Tamim said.
