More than 100 leaders are seeking nominations for 13 Sylhet upazila chairmen positionsAwami League leaders in different upazilas of Sylhet have been hoping to be nominated by the party in the upcoming upazila election. An Awami League source said more than 100 leaders want nominations for the post of upazila chairman in 13 upazilas of Sylhet. Requesting to remain anonymous, an Awami League source said two heavyweight Awami League leaders—District Awami League vice-president and current Upazila chairman Ashfaq Ahmed, and District Awami League Joint Secretary Sujat Ali Rafiq—want to become contenders for chairman in Sylhet Sadar Upazila. District Awami League has temporarily suspended the party's Upazila Secretary Aftab Ali Kala Miah, and organizing secretary, for starting an altercation and ruining a meeting in Sylhet's Companiganj upazila. An Awami League source said the potential candidates of Sylhet are currently in Dhaka to buy nomination forms.
