The MPs voted to clear Syed Ashraf’s application when on his behalf Chief Whip ASM Feroz presented it on Tuesday. Syed Ashraf has been granted a leave of absence of 90 days from parliament sessions beginning Tuesday. The former Awami League general secretary is undergoing treatment at the Critical Care Medicine Unit of the Bamrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, according to his application. She also said as many as five MPs have taken leave in this manner since independence.
