Glaciers in Switzerland have been receding due to the impact of the climate crisis. After a winter with relatively little snowfall, the Swiss Alps have already experienced two severe summer heatwaves in 2022. In July, authorities advised alpinists against scaling the Matterhorn because of the unusually high temperatures, which reached almost 30C in Zermatt.
