Within a week, motorists can walk into the swanky Regional Transport Office (RTO) that has a reception, e-seva kendra, latest queue management system, quick over-the-counter service, and is decked out with designed furniture, water fountain and other citizen-friendly facilities. At the 50-seat conference hall, road safety awareness classes can be conducted for fresh driving licence holders. All vehicle records and driving licence records have been integrated by NIC into the repository. “The hi-tech office with the latest queue management systems will be a model RTO office for the whole country. It is modelled on the lines of the Traffic office in Dubai,” Transport Commissioner K. Padmakumar told The Hindu on Saturday.
