Chinese President Xi Jinping has taken a leaf out of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's book. In a move that resembles Modi's Swachh Bharat campaign, Xi has called for improving toilets across China , especially in rural areas. He first launched the “toilet revolution” in 2015 to build better toilets at tourist sites. Now Xi wants the "revolution" to reach rural areas.“The toilet issue is no small thing, it’s an important aspect of building civilised cities and countryside,” Xi has said, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua. About 38.51 lakh individual and 2.2 lakh community toilets have been built.
