Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Mau Barbara said the barn, which housed about 150 "giant hay bales", was well ablaze when two fire trucks and seven water tankers arrived. A tanker remained at the scene early on Monday morning, pulling apart the large bales and dampening down hot spots.
