Suspected terrorists kill lawyer in Kashmir


NEW DELHI: Suspected terrorists on Sunday evening barged into the house of former public prosecutor, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan , in south Kashmir 's Pinjoora village in Shopian district and shot him dead, police said. "Khan was fired at multiple times from a close range at his house," a senior police official said, adding, "He was immediately taken to the nearby hospital by family. "Khan succumbed to the injuries while being treated in the hospital," the official said.Meanwhile, Abdul Rashid Khan alias Rashid Billa was also shot dead inside his home in Hajin area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district today. "Terrorists barged into Billa's home and opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot," the officer saidAccording to the reports, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan was associated with Jammu and Kashmir National Conference while Rashid Billa is said to be close aide of former state assembly speaker Akbar Lone.Billa was also main accused in Saderkoot massacre of 1995 in which seven persons including two women were killed on October 5, 1996 at Saderkoot village of district Bandipora district.However, Police is tight-lipped about the political association of the deceased.
