MELAKA: Melaka police have successfully dragged an alleged paedophile to court despite the suspect claiming to be mentally unstable during interrogation. State CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Yhazid Idris said his team managed to build a strong case against the 32-year-old suspect and would be charged at Ayer Keroh Sessions Court on Friday (Dec 27). He said the suspect was investigated under Section 14(A) of Sexual Offence Against Children Act 2017. In another case, ACP Mohd Yhazid said another 42-year-old man would also be charged at the Alor Gajah Sessions Court on Dec 27 for allegedly raping his underaged daughter since 2017. He said the man was investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape and also under Section 14(A) of Sexual Offence Against Children Act 2017.
