(CNN) A man accused of killing a teenager in Vancouver, Washington, after he learned she was transgender has been charged with a hate crime, CNN affiliate KPTV reported. David Bogdanov, 25, was arrested last month in connection with the death of missing 17-year-old Nikki Kuhnhausen . He was already facing a second-degree murder charge when prosecutors filed a count of malicious harassment against him Thursday. Bogdanov told police he picked up Kuhnhausen, Vancouver police Lt. Tom Ryan told reporters last month. David gave a statement saying that made him really, really uncomfortable and disturbed him, and he asked Nikki to get out of his van and she walked away," Ryan said.
