NewsMundalama Police have seized a stock of the banned agrochemical glyphosate and arrested a suspect. The suspect, a resident of Kiriyankalliya, Mundalama, is involved in the sale of animal feed products. Police said the suspect had been smuggling glyphosate from India and mixing it with another banned weed killer and selling it. Police further said investigations have uncovered that the suspect had sold a can of 4 liter glyphosate for Rs.10, 000 each. Further investigations have revealed that though the suspect maintained a business selling animal feed, he did not possess a license from the insecticides of weedicides.
