Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday said normalcy will only be restored with the return of displaced persons in Rakhine state, after the 4th Meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) in Dhaka on Sunday. Expressing India’s deep concern over situation in Rakhine state in Myanmar, she said: “In our view, the only long term solution to the situation in Rakhine is rapid social economic and infrastructure development that could have a positive impact on all the communities in the state. “We have also supported the implementation of the recommendations in the Kofi Annan led special advisory commission report. India for its part has committed to providing financial and technical assistance for identified projects to be undertaken in Rakhine state in conjunction with local authorities.”Also Read: Sushma Swaraj arrives in DhakaPointing out on how India supports Bangladesh’s efforts in dealing with the Rohingya crisis, Sushma said: “Recently, we have launched Operation Insaniyat in September to support the government of Bangladesh in it’s commendable efforts to provide shelter to the people fleeing Rakhine state oin Myanmar.”The Indian minister said her country has supplied essential goods such as rice, lentils, salt, sugar, cooking oil, milk powder and mosquito nets to about 3,00,000 displaced persons.
