Yet, isolation, loneliness, loss, anxiety even on the scale we are experiencing today are not new. Had he been discovered, my father, Julian and his entire family would have been shot. My father survived the war, the only Jewish survivor of his village, and stayed in touch with Julian and his family. She showed us where “the grave” was located and told us her memories of that time.
