His brother's death hit him hard, and Coulombe said he was honored to receive his Purple Heart. Along with the Purple Heart, Maurice was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Korean War Service Medal.
