Survey of India plans to “re-measure” Mt. Everest


more-inThe Survey of India is planning to “re-measure” Mount Everest in the aftermath of the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, M. Stalin, director, Karnataka Geo-spatial Data Centre, Survey of India (Department of Science and Technology), Bengaluru, said in Vellore on Tuesday. “Under the National Urban Information System, we have generated large-scale maps for over 130 cities in India in the first phase,” he said. He pointed out that on April 10, the Union Minister for Science and Technology launched a portal – Nakshe. “By using the Aadhaar card number, people can access any map in PDF format on this portal,” he pointed out. This year, the Survey of India is commemorating 250 years of service to the nation.
