Contrary to the expectations of citizens, the number of accidents increased instead of decreasing. The number of road accident deaths and injuries has been steadily increasing in the last three years in Andhra Pradesh. Detailed field surveys were made and templates developed on prevention of accidents at the ‘identified spots’ by taking appropriate remedial measures. “A total of 80 vulnerable high risk points were identified on the NH in Visakhapatnam district. AP Transport Commissioner has sent the report to the NHAI, New Delhi, for remedial action,” Deputy Transport Commissioner S. Venkateswara Rao said.
