VANCOUVER—Fire crews in Surrey, B.C., are fighting a blaze onboard a barge along the Fraser River this morning. Massive plumes of dark smoke can be seen rising from the barge, which is in an industrial area of the city just east of the Pattullo Bridge. Metro Vancouver tweeted an air-quality alert this morning warning people to take shelter inside if they encounter smoke and to close their windows and doors to reduce pollution. An air-quality advisory is already in place for the Fraser Valley and eastern Metro Vancouver region due to wildfires burning throughout the province. More to come
