Surrender of over 100 yaba dealers begins in Cox’s Bazar

The historic ceremony, being held at Teknaf Pilot High School on Saturday, is being attended by hundred of locals. The conditions for surrender of illegal narcotics dealers are to leave the drug trade forever, and act as sources for identifying those involved in the illicit business. So far, 102 drug dealers have surrendered at the event, along with 30 locally made firearms and 350,000 yaba pills. “The surrender of drug peddlers is conditional and ill-gotten wealth amassed by narcotics traders will be investigated by authorities concerned,” Masud Hossain said. Seven family members of former Awami League lawmaker and alleged yaba kingpin Abdur Rahman Bodi are among the yaba dealers scheduled to surrender.
