more-inA surprise inspection of shops dealing in automobile spare parts in the city by the police recently uncovered a racket involving sale of spurious and fake auto parts of a leading two-wheeler company. Similarly, Mr. Harish visited Jain Traders on Chamaraja Double Road and stumbled upon the sale of spurious spare parts bearing the company’s name. According to the complaint, the shops were supplying spurious spare parts in packages bearing the automobile company’s logo. Meanwhile, TVS Motor company, in a statement here, said they had initiated a ‘Brand Protection Programme’ to overcome the bane of counterfeiting. After seizure of the spurious and copyright infringed spare parts of the company, legal action had been initiated under provisions of Indian Penal Code and the Copyright Act, 1957.
