Health experts urged the public to stay vigilant against upper respiratory tract infection as an increasing number of cases have been recorded in schools and care homes recently. HKU microbiologist Ho Pak-leung said among those who consulted doctors at clinics in the past week, 17.2 per thousand people had upper respiratory tract infection symptoms, a significant increase from the number of 9.7 per thousand people 3 weeks ago. Infectious disease expert Dr. Joseph Tsang kay-yan also said the risk for students having cross infections of the respiratory tract is imminent as schools have resumed face-to-face lessons these days.
