Players’ union welcomes increased regulation in the sectorThere has been a surge in the number of football agents registering with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) following a recent clampdown on unlicensed agents that included former Irish internationals. Early last year, there were just six agents registered with the FAI but last week there were 30 registered and another 27 are in the process of completing their registrations.
