Surfing destination: PhilippinesThe Department of Tourism (DOT) is finalizing plans to position the Philippines as a major surfing destination among local and foreign tourists and enthusiasts. “Accreditation of such will require these training facilities to retain certified surfing instructors to teach or supervise the teaching of their students. “The Department of Tourism is implementing two far-reaching programs to develop surfing as a major tourism product for the country,” the tourism department said in a statement. According to the DOT, one program calls for the classification and accreditation of resorts, surf camps, or other facilities that provide surfing lessons to clients. Meanwhile, the other program is the upgrading of local coaches.
