General News of Tuesday, 13 January 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe Supreme Court of Ghana has set Wednesday, January 28, 2026, to deliver its ruling on the application challenging the High Court’s annulment of the 2024 Kpandai parliamentary election. The application was filed by the current Member of Parliament for Kpandia, Matthew Nyindam and sought to overturn a ruling of the High Court in Tamale that annulled the 2024 parliamentary election results and ordered a rerun of the election. “The Parliamentary Election Petition filed by the first interested party on 25th January 2025… was invalid and could not have properly invoked the jurisdiction of the High Court, Commercial Division, Tamale,” the report noted. Kpandai MP speaks on High Court's election rerun decisionThe High Court ruling, delivered on November 24, 2025, nullified the entire Kpandai parliamentary election and directed that a rerun be conducted within 30 days. The Supreme Court previously ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to suspend all proceedings and activities related to the Kpandai parliamentary rerun, pending the final determination of a case before the court.
