Photo: PTINew Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday reinstated Alok Verma as director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) but he has been restrained from taking any new policy decisions for now. In doing so, the apex court set aside the 23 October order of the CBI divesting Verma of his powers and sending him on leave. Verma was sent on leave on 24 October 2018, and M. Nageswara Rao, a CBI joint director, appointed the interim chief. Venugopal had told the top court that the committee’s mandate was limited and stood expired after recommending names for the post of CBI director.
