Supreme Court prods EC on Modi, Shah

(PTI)The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Election Commission to “take necessary action” by Monday on a Congress complaint accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah of violating the model code of conduct. Congress MP Sushmita Dev has petitioned the apex court seeking a directive to the poll panel to act against Modi and Shah. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Dev, said the panel was not acting against Modi and Shah despite several complaints. He said the Congress had so far lodged 40 complaints of model code violations by the BJP, which included 11 against Modi and Shah.
