Support not judgement needed, say young stroke survivors

Support not judgement needed, say young stroke survivorsDELWYN DICKEY/STUFF Stroke survivors Karen Ashdown and Caron King say mothers need understanding from their peers not judgenment. Caron King from Warkworth was just 26 when she collapsed on the toilet floor. She tried doing support work and then youth work but it was too stressful and tiring. She has finally accepted she'll never work again and is frustrated people can't see survivors need long term support, not criticism. The Stroke Foundation support groups for younger members have been a "lifeline", she said.
