The survey found that 60% of voters said abortion should be legalized in all or most cases, up from 55% in March. “Abortion was not an issue that most people thought before Dobbs,” said Democratic pollster Molly Murphy, who conducted the poll alongside Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio. Referring to the Republican candidate for governor, he said:Cecilia Bowman, 63, of Lenoir, North Carolina, said she strongly opposes abortion. “I think abortion should be illegal,” she said, noting that opposing abortion would affect how she voted. The poll also showed clear opposition to the types of abortion restrictions enacted or debated in some states.
