Westmeath indie outfit The Academic have been confirmed as the support act for The Rolling Stones' gig in Croke Park next month. And now it's been confirmed that Irish band The Academic will warm up the crowd when the Stones come to Dublin next month, with the Rolling STones confirming the news on Twitter this morning. The Rolling Stones are pleased to announce Ireland’s favourite indie outfit @TheAcademic will be special guests at Croke Park, Dublin on May 17. According to RTE, the Irish quartet were 'hand-picked' by The Rolling Stones from a choice of 20 bands to play what is surely the biggest gig of their career to date. It will be the band's first gig on Irish soil since 2007, when the quartet headlined at Slane Castle.
