A colourful array of rare wildflowers has turned a US desert into a picturesque purple landscape. The Anza-Berrego State Park, two hours east of San Diego in California, has seen a wonderful super bloom explosion of purple sand verbena following a higher than average rainfall in the autumn and winter months. Hiker Michake Zandy shared a photo of the super bloom, which he captured on March 2.
