Block-busting back rower and Argentina captain Pablo Matera signed with the Crusaders for the 2022 Super Rugby season. Matera, playing in the French Top 14 for Stade Francais, has signed a one-season contract for the Crusaders and will link up with them next season. "We know Pablo is keen to get back to playing Super Rugby, and we're excited by the prospect of him joining us here in Christchurch in 2022," said Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge. Pablo Matera has been a mainstay of the Argentina rugby team for several years. Matera and the team also came under fire for not honouring Argentine football legend Diego Maradona appropriately.
