You might not think Broadway and the NFL have much of a fanbase overlap. Several shows reworked their performance schedules so as not to conflict with kickoff, but still felt the freeze: the industry's overall numbers sank almost 10%, for a total box office haul of $24.87 million. Historically, the big sportsball weekend coincides with a marked dip in box office revenue. Bruce Springsteen's solo gig Springsteen On Broadway never has shows on Sunday, and stayed essentially even, raking in another $2.4 million off just five performances. Grammy winner Jason Mraz was out for a few performances but, according to the box office, sales were down evenly across all eight shows.
