NRG Stadium has hosted the Super Bowl before, in 2004, when it just so happens that the Patriots won, beating the Carolina Panthers. This is the seventh appearance in the Super Bowl for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady; they’ll be pursuing “one for the thumb,” a victory that would bring their fifth Super Bowl ring. Lady Gaga, the Super Bowl LI performer, promised that her wardrobe will be “tight,” i.e., malfunction-proof. This is the Falcons’ second Super Bowl appearance; they lost to the Denver Broncos in 1999.
