ONE of the first reactions to the “unilateral” and unsolicited bid by Sunway Bhd for IJM Corp Bhd was whether it constituted a hostile takeover. Initially anticipating a merger announcement, comments were heard from the floor of the press conference room pointing out that only Sunway was announcing the planned voluntary takeover of IJM, without the latter present.
