Scots made the most of warm and sunny weather on the final day of July before the start of what some meteorologists believe to be an autumn month in Scotland. Parks and beaches proved a magnet for families starved of sunshine this summer, notably cooler and duller than normal. George Anderson of BBC Scotland’s Beechgrove Garden said he does not subscribe to the theory that August sees the start of autumn but admits this summer has been ‘very disappointing’. Friend Emma, mum to 18-month-old Maya, said: ”The kids love it here, especially the top of the park at the pond. However, this may be the last fully-sunny day before the kids go back to school later this month.
