President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had recently noted the need to engage in practical approaches to address issues rather than following textbook theories. Referring to the Agriculture Ministry, the President had noted that while the ministry secretary appointed by him was removed by the Minister citing difficulties in carrying out work, the secretary appointed afterwards by the Minister had also failed at the task. Rajapaksa had further observed that individuals trying to carry out work on their own without working as a team had resulted in failures. The President made these observations during a discussion with newspaper editors last Monday (27 December).
