Kansas City on Saturday made a quarterback roster move that doesn’t involve Patrick Mahomes. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid suggested all this week that Mahomes was close to returning. But delaying surgery — which apparently Mahomes and the Chiefs have chosen to do — is fraught with danger. Former long-time NFL team physician and surgeon David Chao told Postmedia the chance of re-injury is about 50%. In today’s NFL, if a Round 1 QB draft pick doesn’t start right away, he’s not ready.
