Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) shift manager Brent Dunn confirmed crews from Washdyke, Temuka and Timaru arrived at the Meadows Rd, Washdyke, tannery about 2.30pm, and had managed to contain the spill by 4pm. “We’re working through the process now, and we’re in touch with Tasman Tanning about the site management going forward,” Dunn said. On December 9, 10 people were taken to hospital from the site, with four admitted, after Fenz responded to a report of gas fumes at the property.
