Nigerian local media have reported that the attack that is believed to have been executed by a suicide bomber took place in the morning hours, and it was targeting the worshippers at the mosque. A Statement from the Nigerian Police Spokesma Othman Abubakar confirmed the death of more than 50 people, and further indicated that militant group Boko Haram is suspected to have perpetrated the attack. Over 20,000 people are believed to have been executed by the outlawed militant group in the North Eastern part of Nigeria within a span of 9 years. The attack piles more misery and instability in the region.
