SHAH ALAM: The founder of dating site Sugarbook has been charged at the Magistrate's Court here with allegedly publishing a post about “sugar babies" with intention to cause public fear. The founder of the dating platform was arrested at a condominium in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, on Feb 17. During the initial investigation, the suspect confessed to being the founder of Sugarbook. On Feb 15, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) blocked access to the Sugarbook website for allegedly breaching the law on the use of network facilities or services. Sugarbook matches “sugar daddies” to “sugar babies”, or older and generally more well-off men to young women in a largely financial arrangement.
