The navigation statistics in the Suez Canal made new records during July , achieving the highest monthly transit rate in the history of the canal, the head of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie announced on Tuesday. The transit rate amounted to 2,103 ships, and the highest monthly net tonnage in the history of the canal was 125.1 million tons, reflected in the increase in the canal’s revenues to record the highest monthly revenue in its history, at $704 million. The total net tonnages amounted to 125.1 million tons during July 2022 compared to 105.8 million tons during July 2021, an increase of 19.3 million tons or 18.2 percent. The number of liquefied natural gas tankers increased by 31 percent, achieving the highest monthly revenue for liquefied natural gas tankers in the history of the canal, at $52 million, while bulk vessels increased by 21 percent achieving the highest monthly revenue for bulk vessels in the history of the canal, at $121 million. The transit rates of container ships crossing the canal increased by 8.8 percent, achieving the second highest monthly revenue of $314 million.
