Sudan: Power Struggle Plunges Sudan Into Anarchy

Al-Burhan, born in Kundu, northern Sudan, in 1960, is in charge of the national army. During Bashir's rule and in the immediate aftermath of the coup d'état orchestrated by the national army that ousted him from power three years ago, Hemedti and al-Burhan cooperated without trouble. Neither the RSF nor the army disagrees with the establishment of a combined army during the transition from a military to a civilian government in Sudan.
