The government of Morocco has voiced readiness to provide the necessary and possible support to help Sudan overcome its crisis, saying Rabat is confident in the Sudanese people’s capacity to reach a compromise for the sake of security and stability of their country. He lauded the fruitful steps taken by the conflicting parties at the Jeddah meetings thanks to the Saudi and American mediations to facilitate the delivery of relief aid to the Sudanese people, following the ceasefire agreement of May 20, 2023. This agreement is a good and positive step that needs to be consolidated, said Mr. Bourita, calling for intensified and coordinated diplomatic efforts by brotherly & friendly countries as well as by international & regional organizations to strengthen confidence-building measures and protect the Sudanese people. Morocco, he said, supports the emergency de-escalation plan for the current crisis in Sudan, a plan which builds on the initiative of Saudi Arabia & the United States, the positive results of the Jeddah process and the efforts of the tripartite mechanism. The Sudanese crisis threatens regional peace and security, underlined Bourita, calling for joint efforts to support brotherly Sudan and help it reach a political solution, which will enable the country to emerge from its current crisis and regain its role as a regional and continental player.
