Our BureauNew Delhi: Haj subsidy will end from this year, the Centre said on Tuesday, implementing a step mandated by the Supreme Court and showcasing it as a commitment to "development without appeasement". "No subsidy will be given for Haj pilgrims from this year. It will be Haj with dignity," minority affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said. The Muslim community had also been advocating an end to the subsidy. Sources said proposed travel by sea and more embarkation points for fliers should make the Haj cost less.
